Franklin Motorsport was formed in 2004 after starting racing in the toyota MR2 Championship. I decided to build a locost kit car, for the 750mc championship.
In 2010 the hobby turned into more of a business and with the help of some others has seen us building a couple of trackday cars along side the preparation of our own Mk2 Golf Gti.
Richard Pearson - Driver/Mechanic
Richard has been in the motor industry for 15 years where he gained his body repair and mechanical qualifications. He started racing in 2003 and since then has built and raced a locost kitcar, before moving onto single seaters where he prepared a 1998 formula renault to run in the 750mc Formula 4 championship. This has now gone though to make way for the teams Golf Gti which will be raced again this year by Rachel.
Rachel Pearson - Wife/Mechanic/No 1 Driver
Having just finished a three year motor vehicle course, Rachel is now working as part of the track safety team at Cadwell Park, Surounded by fast cars and bikes everyday. She enjoys the challenge of working on her own race car and anything else we get in the workshop. After kart racing for around 8 years she will in 2012 be entering her second season in the Golf Gti Championship.
Mark Robinson - Mechanic/Driver
Mark who works as a full time mechanic for Cross Country Vehicles in Scunthorpe also has his own MK2 Golf Gti which is track prepared.
Claire Smith - Driver
Claire has been karting for several years and in 2012 will be moving on to do some trackdays in her own Mk2 Golf that is currently being built, with the hope of entering the championship late this year or early 2013.
Matt Franks - Driver
Matt is a friend who i've known for several years since i began Marshaling at Cadwell Park. An excellent mechanic and fabricator. He also enjoys the thrill of driving on circuit.
Martin Wilson - Team Driver
Another fellow marshall from Cadwell Park, formerly owned the teams white golf but has just taken over runing a Saxo Vtr.
Carl Hodson - Team Photographer
